While Google's "Year in search" lists are based on search queries that made some hype, we decided to run another research. Every year we collect funny and amusing search queries made by Google users :)
We took 5 question words (how, what, why, where, when) and exported 20 000 search suggestions with non-zero average annual volume from our Google.US database. Then we filtered out the most frequent search queries and gathered the funniest ones. Here's an infographic, where you can find the results of our research.
